MAMAC devotes a large exhibition to international artist Gustav Metzger, whose influence has grown steadily in recent years ...
A major actor in the avant-garde of the second half of the 20th century, the artist contributed to the redefinition of art, exploring new ways of creating and anchoring his approach in the major stakes of his time. Through archives and reactivation of installations, the exhibition proposes a reflection on the obsolescence and self-destruction incarnated in several pieces by the artist. Like the Nouveaux Réalistes, Gustav Metzger creates works with everyday objects or industrial materials that are degraded. The exhibition also focuses on one of the major and innovative aspects of Gustav Metzger: his early involvement in environmental issues.
