Igor Stravinsky - Symphony of Psalms - Francis Poulenc - Stabat Mater - Soprano Virginie Maraskin - Philharmonic Choir - Musical direction Giulio Magnanini.
The Symphony of the Psalms was born following an order from the Boston Symphony made to Stravinsky on the occasion of his fiftieth birthday but especially after the composer's return to religious practice.
The work was composed "in a state of religious and musical ebullition," as he himself will comment.
This symphony, articulated in three parts, is an emblem of Stravinsky's writing, which asks the singers and musicians a perfectly mastered technique in the service of a very inspired music.
