Best New Yorker Show 2010 - The TNN is delighted to welcome this extraordinary Georgian artist who fills our hearts with unforgettable and moving images.
World puppet star, Rezo Gabriadze imagined a universal requiem through the battle of Stalingrad. By focusing on one of the bloodiest episodes of the Second World War, the artist chose to create fantastic paintings that tell the ephemeral beauty of life.
On stage, sand evokes a snowy expanse from which arise creatures of porcelain, paper mache and rag, divinely manipulated. Thus we find Stalin as a Soviet generalissimo, a circus star, a seller of lemonade or two horses seeking an island of happiness against a background of chaos ... The intensity of existence is expressed here by short scenes and poetry, accompanied by folk music and the moving voices of Georgian actors. The show sails between dream and reality, past and present, despair and humor.
