Under the presidency of H.R.H The Princess of Hanover - Les Ballets de Monte-Carlo - Choreography Jean-Christophe Maillot. Dance, raised to the rank of total art, questions the very essence of our humanity. Sovereign and magic!
The choreographer Jean-Christophe Maillot returns to enchant the stage of Nice. The neoclassical master chose to return to the mythological origins of the famous ballet of Tchaikovsky. Freed from romanticism, Swan Lake appears in all its power with unsuspected depths. The idyll between the Prince and his promise is thwarted by the irruption of a poisonous woman, frightening bird of night. The tragedy of lovers takes the form of a founding quarrel between darkness and light.
The choreography is tonic, explosive, beautiful to thrill, highlighted by the scenography of an elegant sobriety imagined by the artist Ernest Pignon-Ernest. The costumer Philippe Guillotel has endowed with feathers the hands of the dancers transformed into supernatural creatures. The original meaning of the tale comes alive in this black and white version, made of jerks, virtuosity, frenzied eddies and a burlesque touch.
