Freely inspired by the ball - collective creation of Théâtre du Campagnol, directed by Jean-Claude Penchenat, design and choreography Mathilde Monnier, Alan Pauls.
Tango, music, dances of yesterday and today weave delightfully this story that awakens the soul of Argentina. Timeless, popular, always alive, there to seduce us.
The great choreographer Mathilde Monnier transposes Le Bal, a cult show from the 80s by Jean-Claude Penchenat, immortalized by filmmaker Ettore Scola, in a milonga in Buenos Aires, a city where tango meets football, rock and protest. These are stories of seduction without words, stories of life in Buenos Aires from 1978 to the present day, which expose themselves in the Argentine ballroom. Men and women come together, their destinies intersect with rhythms of tango, samba and malambo, but also of rock, techno and songs that have marked Argentina for the last forty years. The New Wave style of Mathilde Monnier is perfectly in keeping with the writing of her fellow passenger, the great Argentinian author Alan Pauls. The dancers evoke the Mondial de football, the political events of the junta in power as the effervescence of danced revolutions and make a reference to Pina Bausch. We go through an era and the history of a country. Because in Argentina, no one forgets that to dance is to love and to revolt.
