(As usual all starts with a party) - Text & Stage Adel Hakim. A masterpiece by Adel Hakim, which honors an exceptional Palestinian company. A Romeo and Juliet from the Middle East, shocking and profoundly humanistic.
"A party is life ... So, the party begins!" The director of the Théâtre des Quartiers d'Ivry has created a musical and poetic fresco worthy of the great Greek tragedies, made up of dramas, tears, laughter and of dreams. A chorus tells of the loves and tears of a family divided between Palestine and Israel. From the arrival of the Jewish survivors in 1944 to the Intifada in 1988, the play unfolds the epic story of three generations torn between political convictions and heart attachments. Their intimate conflicts become universal and sum up the tragedy of a people.
The remarkable actors of the Palestinian National Theater are assisted by dancing clowns who ensure the transitions between scenes and eras. Laughter, joy, love, all the vital forces invite themselves on the stage, counterbalancing the darkness of the drama. A poignant and committed theater that moves us and questions us about the meaning of life and the value of peace.
