North of Chandigarh, on the edge of the Himalayas, lies a long strip of sands and mud exhumed by tectonics. A study reveals landscapes around 2.7 million years before the quaternary global cooling. Rivers from the Himalayas have attracted a wide variety of herbivores trapped in flood mud. This abundance of meat and marrow attracted hyenas, but also unsuspected hominines in Asia, as shown by traces of butchery and a technique of the size of pebbles elaborated.
