Located in southern Europe and the south-easternmost corner of France, Nice occupies a remarkable natural site in the heart of the French Riviera.

The city developed in its broad basin open southward on the Mediterranean Sea and bounded to the East and West by a succession of wooded hills. In the background arise the first peaks of the alpine foothills, some exceeding altitudes of 3,000 metres, only 50km from the coast as the crow flies...

Despite the advantages of flying into Nice, with an bird's-eye view of the entire city and its characteristic features, arriving by train also has its charm: after passing through untamed parts of the coast, the sumptuous landscapes of the Riviera file past right into the heart of Nice.

Driving provides maximum freedom of movement: minor roads, highways and the motorway to go exactly where you like with five exits on the bypass motorway, from ‘Nice-Promenade des Anglais' to ‘Nice-Est'. While the sea remains the most spectacular approach ... with the indescribable joy all sailors feel when a point suddenly appears on the horizon and that point gradually becomes the city of Nice: white and opalescent in the morning; pink and mauve in the afternoon.
