Carnival of Nice
For a fortnight, the city livens up and all its neighbourhoods run wild. An ephemeral artistic creation, the Carnival of Nice attracts nearly a million visitors every year. It alone justifies the organisation of programmes in and around Nice. Combined with the French Riviera's other winter events (Fête des Citrons in Menton, Naval flower parade in Villefranche-sur-Mer, Mimosa Festival in Mandelieu-la-Napoule and Violet Festival in Tourrettes-sur-Loup), the Carnival of Nice is a 'must' to include instantly in your programming!
The Convention and Visitors Bureau of Nice can assist you in organising your programmes in Nice, especially during Carnival. Packages for 2 to 7 nights are also available from the hoteliers of Nice. Please do not hesitate to consult us.
In 2013, Carnival will be "King of the five continents", with the French-speaking world as guest of honour, from 15th February to 6th March.

IronMan
Every year in June the sports world has its eyes riveted on Nice, cradle of the European Triathlon, and its hinterland: the one and only IronMan in France covered the Triathlon's official distances: 3.8km of swimming, 180km of biking and 42.195km of foot racing for a total of 225 kilometres.
Today, it has become the world's greatest Ironman attracting over 2,500 athletes from France and abroad each year. A major sporting event!
Nice Jazz Festival
The first jazz festival in France was created in 1948, although 'Le Nice Jazz Festival' acquired its true identity only in 1974.
For decades, the greatest names in jazz have been performing there outdoors under the starry sky of the French Riviera: from Louis Armstrong to Dizzy Gillespie, from Django Reinhart to Diana Krall, all the artists of legend have lit up the nights in previous years.
This year from 8 to 12 July 2012, some thirty concerts will be held in Jardins Albert Ier, in the heart of Nice.
With John McLaughlin as guest of honour, this year's stars will include pianist Ahmad Jamal, singer Asa, clarinettist and saxophonist Michel Portal, violinist Didier Lockwood, guitarist Mike Stern, harmonica player Jean-Jacques Milteau and trumpeter Winton Marsalis.
And the list is still incomplete, since three concerts are scheduled every night on each of the two stages: one facing Place Massena with a capacity of 8,000, the second at Théâtre de Verdure (theatre in the green) with 800 seats and room for 1,400 people standing. Besides a tribute to Miles Davis, a dozen themes are planned, from 'Jazz made in France' to Jazz Electro, including Soul, Funk and Blues.
