Nice is a vast garden open on the Sea, in which tropical species, introduced in the 19th century, blend with Mediterranean plants.
The urban landscape includes 300 hectares of parks and gardens and many private gardens. It is no surprise that Nice is one of the cities with the most flowers and greenery in France.
La Coulée Verte, an ambitious ecological project!
Nice has just started the creation of a Coulée Verte, a leafy pedestrian zone in the heart of the city. From the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art all the way to the Sea, 12 hectares of wooded gardens will run through the city centre. Lawns, biodiversity, stone and ponds will contribute to the harmony of this urban park, whose cost is estimated at €40m. This vast project, partly funded by the General Council of the Alpes-Maritimes département, should be completed by the end of 2013.
