Exceptional measures

The prefectoral decree N°2020-233 of April 4, 2020, prohibits the rental, as a tourist activity, of hotel rooms as well as furnished tourist accommodation or any other accommodation intended for seasonal rental located on the territory of communes of more than 10,000 inhabitants as well as communes on the coast of the Alpes-Maritimes department, and this until April 15, 2020.

Places closed or access forbideen until further notice:

      • information offices of the Nice Côte d'Azur Metropolitan Tourist Office
      • museums and libraries
      • parks and gardens, woods, forests and river banks
      • Promenade des Anglais and beaches
      • restaurants and bars
      • outdoor markets
      • shops (except food shops and pharmacies)
      • Acropolis Convention Centre, theatres and concert halls
      • ski resorts (Auron, Isola 2000 and la Colmiane)

Places open with certain restrictions

      • certain hotels (except their bars and restaurants)
      • Nice Côte d'Azur airport (Terminal 1 is closed, all flights are operated from Terminal 2)
      • food stores and pharmacies
      • gas stations
      • banks

As from Tuesday 17th March, all movements and travel should be limited to a strict minimum and you must be in possession of a certificate and from Sunday 22nd March, all outings are forbidden from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. except for professional or medical reasons.


Following the numerous cancellations suffered by the tourism industry, the ordonnance N° 2020-315 of 25 March 2020 relating to the financial conditions for the cancellation of certain tourist travel and holiday contracts in the event of exceptional and unavoidable circumstances or force majeure, modifies the obligations of professionals by allowing them to offer their customers, instead of an immediate refund, a credit note valid for a period of eighteen months for all cancellations made between 1st March and 15th September 2020. If at the end of these eighteen months, the client has not used his credit, the professional will then have to refund him.
