As part of the exhibitions "Nice 2019: The Odyssey of Cinema. Victorine at 100 »
Lina Hentgen and Gaëlle Hippolyte each studied at Villa Arson between 1998 and 2006. From their meeting, a four-handed collaboration was born under the name Hippolyte Hentgen. Through drawings, installations, performances, films, they appropriate and use the codes of comics, press drawing and popular imagery - including animation and the image industry. Over the years, Hippolyte Hentgen has created a whimsical and burlesque universe. In the context of the Biennial, they are designing a proposal at MAMAC punctuated by large paintings, films, sculptures and installations. Between fantasy spirit and pop resurgence, this universe evokes a scene of fiction, waiting for its activation.
