Before becoming an actor, I was, during all my schooling, a swimmer of high level. I swam every day, morning and evening. I was training hard for the goal of the year: the championships of France. During those years, I realized that the competition made me doubt myself. I came to wonder, behind the starting block, what I was doing there.
The fear of failure? The fear of time? The loss of meaning? I had a weight on my shoulders that was too heavy to wear.
It was by moving away from pools and pacing a plateau that I began to dream and to find past sensations. These sensations made me feel great in the water.
One Hundred Meter Butterfly is a theatrical creation, for an actor, alone on stage. It is the experience of the high level swimmer who feeds the text.
The learning of the "fall", the discovery of gliding, our relationship with water, training and violence, competition and the strangeness of its rituals, races, defeats, questioning, mermaids' song...
