The Suites of Carmen 1 and 2 were conceived after the premature death of the composer Georges Bizet by his friend Ernest Guiraud.
Detached from the chronological route of the action of the famous opera, they follow very closely the musical text of Bizet and his orchestration.
Of the totality of their 12 movements, 7 more or less explicitly bear a title evoking dance: Aragonese, Seguidilla, Quadrille des Toreros, Smugglers' March, Habanera, March of the Rising Guard, Bohemian Dance.
What's more tempting then to make a ballet and enrich the music so clear, so subtle and so "drawn" of the great Bizet with dance steps, duets, sets, lights and costumes?
Why not use the extraordinary energy of this music to exalt that of the dancers and dancers of the conservatory?
It's at a Spanish and dancing Christmas that the dance classes and the Conservatoire teachers' orchestra offer you with this version of a musical masterpiece never seen before.
