5 Tangos: Choreography Hans van Manen, Music Astor Piazzoll - In Sol: Choreography Jerome Robbins, Music Maurice Ravel - Belong pas de deux: Choreography Norbert Vesak, Music Syrinx, Robert De LaRose.
- 5 Tangosis a meeting at the top between classical dance and the music of Astor Piazzola. Each accent of the melodic line finds an illustration sometimes flexible sometimes rough. Tango is the subtle blend of gravity and fantasy that makes dance an art between life and death. Everything is incisive and precise but the performers never give up the beauty of the movement, rendered here more sensual and lascivious yet by the amplitude of the classic vocabulary and its range.
Choreography Hans van Manen
- In Sol: "The classical dancers can move cool". The choreographer who expresses himself in these terms is one of the most inventive in the history of dance. The repertoire of Jerome Robbins covers all styles: large abstract frescoes like The Goldberg Variations, confusing experiments such as The Cage, hilarious paintings like The Concert, and finally the legendary West Side Story ... All his life, the elusive choreographer will make the big difference between the classic and the musical, the left foot at the New York City Ballet and the right foot on Broadway.
- Belong pas de deux: A pas de deux always says the same thing: the experience lived by two people whose minds are in unison and who entrust their body with expressing it. The pas de deux of Belong by Norbert Vesak is a monument in this matter. The connivance between the dancers is here total. It keeps us in suspense during the ten minutes of this choreography that rises crescendo. In 1980, Belong made the audience discover this piece for the first time at the Varna International Dance Competition in Bulgaria.
