Who has never dreamed of finding earthly pleasures after death?
This is the function of Taiwanese paper funerals, burned to provide comfort for the deceased in the afterlife. Following a death, families buy paper substitutes for real objects, mounted on a bamboo structure, which they send to the deceased by burning them, accompanied by funeral currencies - banknotes and pieces of paper in use in the world of the dead.
Designed in partnership with the Taiwan Cultural Center in Paris, the exhibition presents a collection of creations from the Hsin Hsin and Skea workshops, produced exceptionally for the musée du quai Branly - Jacques Chirac.
