For this new "world sound" project, Syna Awel surrounded herself with Béatrice Alunni on piano, Sofian El Mabrouk on double bass and drummer-percussionist Jean Luc Danna.
Sofian strikes the strings of his double bass with the bow which sounds like an oud or a huembri. Jean Luc Danna, magician of the sound "d'aqui e d'aia" who embodies the pulse of Jazz, accompaniments to the sound of calbas and minor percussion with finesse. The notes of the pianist Béatrice Alunni fit together with perfect naturalness and build bridges between the different cultures that this project proposes. This diversity of sound offers Syna Awel a beautiful setting for bewitching melodies in Berber and Arabic that carry us away from the very first vocals.
Carlos Lopes, a young singer-songwriter born on the island of Santiago, lives between his country of origin, Cape Verde, and his adopted land, France. His music, inspired by soul jazz, is a poetic journey, a stirring ballad at the crossroads of his African roots and contemporary styles. As a distinctive sign of the unfailing link with his native land, he often wears an ear painted blue, a strong signal that his music is full of colours: that of the sky, the sea, the places and dreams of his childhood...
